Epoxy End Table
| October 2024 |
I had been considering a c-style end table for quite a while, but I wasn't interested in making the legs myself. So, I purchased an inexpensive c-style end table from Amazon with black aluminum legs, intending to replace the top later. After approximately 6 months and finding the perfect piece of wood, I completed my end table. This table is crafted from Taiwanese Cedar that I brought back after visiting last May, featuring a black epoxy fill and Walnut trim.
I built a form out of plywood and lined it with sheet plastic that I sealed with silicone caulk. For the epoxy, I used Liquid Glass Deep Pour epoxy that I dyed black with Transtint dye. After curing for a week, I planed and squared up the table. At this point, I realized that the dimensions I had used from the Amazon listing were incorrect, so the top was smaller than needed. To fix this, I added some walnut trim that I epoxied on to get to the required dimensions. The table is finished with one coat of Tried & True finish.
