WoodShop Sign

This sign was made for the Woodshop in the TechSpark Makerspace at Carnegie Mellon University. It is 5.5' long x 13.5" tall and 3/4" thick and was CNC routed from 3/4" plywood. A v-bit with a 45° and the engraving toolpath was used to engrave the letters to a depth of 1/2." The bit left significant burs in the letters that had to be hand sanded before painting. Black acrylic paint was used to paint the letters, and any drips were sanded off afterwards. A spray polyurethane finish was used to finish the front and back. Two D rings and steel wire were used to hang the sign from Unistrut channels attached to the ceiling.
